Ice Tycoon 2 tier list — upgrader and machine priorities
Full factory run showing which Lava Upgrader, Coolant, and machine plates to buy first in Ice Tycoon 2.

Upgrade order reference
Full factory run showing which Lava Upgrader, Coolant, and machine plates to buy first in Ice Tycoon 2.
This Ice Tycoon 2 tier list ranks upgraders, machines, and Shopkeeper tools for the Roblox ice factory tycoon by Slized Games. Ice Tycoon 2 Roblox players use S / A / B / C labels to decide the next green-plate purchase when Cash is limited.
Rankings reflect income impact and verified gameplay roles, not official developer tiers. The Gem Upgrader requires all five gems first — it starts unranked until you complete the gems guide.
Ice Tycoon 2 is live — revisit this page after patches add new machines. Cross-check names in the wiki. Machine plate prices shift between updates; this list prioritizes effect order, not exact Cash costs.
S-tier picks spike lava sell value or permanent income. A-tier picks stabilize water use or add automation. B-tier and C-tier items help early tutorial flow or situational cold-zone travel — buy them when the role matches your current goal, not because the letter looks good.
| Tier | Meaning | Example |
|---|---|---|
| S | Highest income impact | Lava Upgrader, Gem Upgrader |
| A | Strong mid/late pick | Ice Upgrader, Coolant, Automator |
| B | Situational or early | Saw, Mine, Cup, Canteen |
| C | Starter only | Spoon, Water Spout |
Upgraders buff ice along your production line. Lava Upgrader is the backbone of Ice Tycoon 2 income — buy it as soon as the green plate appears after your first conveyor expansion. It enhances each ice block right before the lava sale, so every dropper cycle earns more Cash.
Coolant saves water per freeze cycle — core for Drought badge prep and long factory sessions without constant spout runs. Ice Upgrader boosts mid-line production once Lava Upgrader is funded. Saw adds a multiplier station; pick it up after Coolant stabilizes water use.
The secret Gem Upgrader unlocks only after all five gems are inserted into the factory wall slot (+5% income each). It stacks with Lava Upgrader for the strongest sell-point spike in the game. Route details: gems guide.
On rebirth, upgraders reset while gem income bonuses stay permanent. Re-buy Lava Upgrader and Coolant first on every fresh tree. Ending routes tie into rebirth count — see 100% guide.
| Tier | Upgrader | Role | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| S | Lava Upgrader | Income | Enhances ice value at lava sell — buy ASAP after first conveyor line. |
| A | Ice Upgrader | Production | Mid-line ice value boost on the production path. |
| A | Coolant | Water save | Uses less water per cycle — core for Drought badge prep. |
| B | Saw | Bonus | Multiplier station on the ice line — pick up after Coolant stabilizes. |
| S | Gem Upgrader | Secret | Unlocks after all 5 gems inserted (+5% income each). |

Machines move water and ice through your tycoon. Water Dropper and Conveyor plates define the tutorial loop — both rank A-tier because every save needs them before income scales. Conveyor Expander adds another dropper lane; treat expander purchases as production upgrades, not belt cosmetics.
Water Spout is your starting scoop point (C-tier — replaced by Shopkeeper tools quickly). Mine unlocks ore belts and hides Gem 2 in a back-left secret rock — B-tier until Cash income supports the ~$5,000 unlock plate (confirm in-game).
Late factory wings introduce Automator workers that drag product through the line and Mcrafter buildings for deep automation. Mcrafter ranks S-tier for time saved, but the plate cost is heavy — buy after Lava Upgrader and mine income are stable.
Decorative path plates sometimes appear near production lines. They do not affect income — skip them until S-tier upgraders are online. Full machine reference: wiki machines.
| Tier | Machine | Role | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| C | Water Spout | Water source | Starting scoop point — use Spoon until Shopkeeper upgrades. |
| A | Water Dropper | Production | Tutorial plate — converts water into ice blocks to harvest. |
| A | Conveyor | Transport | Moves ice toward the lava sell pit. |
| A | Conveyor Expander | Production | Adds another dropper lane — priority mid-game plate. |
| B | Mine | Expansion | Unlocks ore belts and pickaxe mining (~$5,000 early — verify in-game). |
| A | Automator | Automation | Factory worker that pulls product through the line. |
| S | Mcrafter | Advanced craft | Late-factory automation — expensive but saves manual hours. |
Shopkeeper water tools and heat crystals are not machines, but they gate how fast you feed droppers and survive cold map zones. Spoon (free, 2 capacity) is C-tier — replace with Cup ($300, 6 capacity) immediately after tutorial plates.
Canteen ($1,500, 12 capacity) and Bucket ($6,000, 20 capacity) rank B-tier and A-tier respectively. Bucket matters for Drought badge runs and long gem routes; Canteen is the comfortable mid-game scoop upgrade.
Heat crystals prevent freezing in cold zones. Lvl 1 ($250, -10°) helps hotel floors; Lvl 4 ($10,000, -40°) is S-tier for castle mountain and End 2 prep. Do not buy crystals before Cup unless you are leaving the warm factory early.
Frozen Magma (hotel 4th floor, not a Shopkeeper item) is required for Gem 1 — pick it up when ready to jump into your main lava pit. See Gem 1 route.
| Tier | Tool | Type | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| C | Spoon | Water tool | Starter tool at game start. |
| B | Cup | Water tool | First Shopkeeper upgrade from Spoon. |
| B | Canteen | Water tool | Mid early-game water capacity. |
| A | Bucket | Water tool | Best standard water tool before late zones. |
| B | Heat Crystal Lvl 1 | Heat crystal | Survive -10° cold zones — $250 |
| A | Heat Crystal Lvl 2 | Heat crystal | Survive -20° cold zones — $1,000 |
| A | Heat Crystal Lvl 3 | Heat crystal | Survive -30° cold zones — $3,000 |
| S | Heat Crystal Lvl 4 | Heat crystal | Survive -40° cold zones — $10,000 |
Suggested first-hour Ice Tycoon 2 spending: tutorial plates → Cup ($300) → extra Conveyor → Lava Upgrader → Canteen ($1,500) → Coolant when the plate appears → first gem route (hotel Frozen Magma for Gem 1).
This order assumes you are still manually scooping water and harvesting ice. Once Coolant is online, water trips shorten and you can afford Conveyor Expander plates without starving Lava Upgrader funding.
Open the mine when the unlock plate fits your Cash flow (commonly ~$5,000). Gem 2 sits in the back-left secret rock — combine mine unlock with a gem hunt instead of two factory resets.
New player walkthrough with tutorial detail: beginner guide. Gem step-by-step: gems guide.
| Order | Purchase | Why |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Tutorial dropper + conveyor | Unlocks Cash loop |
| 2 | Cup ($300) | 3× water per scoop vs Spoon |
| 3 | Conveyor expansion | More ice reaches lava |
| 4 | Lava Upgrader | Highest Cash multiplier |
| 5 | Canteen ($1,500) | Less time at spout |
| 6 | Coolant | Water efficiency |
| 7 | Gem 1 route | +5% permanent income |
Mid-game Ice Tycoon 2 spending shifts toward Conveyor Expander, Ice Upgrader, Saw, and the mine ore line. Fund Gem 3–5 routes during the same map pass — castle mountain well (Gem 5) needs Heat Crystal Lvl 2+ for -20° zones.
Repair the Abandoned Factory for the Up and Running badge once Cash income is stable. The portal inside awards the badge on first entry — separate from gem hunting but often done in the same session as Gem 3 (secret rain zone).
Late factory: Automator removes manual harvesting hours; Mcrafter is the capstone automation plate before rebirth grinds. Both wait until Lava Upgrader, Coolant, and at least three gems are inserted.
Insert all five gems to unlock Gem Upgrader — treat it as S-tier alongside Lava Upgrader for sell-point value. Badge and ending checklist: 100% guide.
| Phase | Priority picks | Side goal |
|---|---|---|
| Mid | Ice Upgrader, Saw, Mine | Gems 2–3 |
| Mid-late | Conveyor Expander, Bucket | Gem 4 (hotel key) |
| Late | Automator, Mcrafter | Gem 5, Gem Upgrader |
| Pre-rebirth | Trophy gates, Abandoned Factory | Up and Running badge |
After rebirth, your factory resets but gem income bonuses (+5% each) stay permanent. Re-buy Lava Upgrader and Coolant first on every fresh tree — they restore Cash flow faster than decorative plates or Saw.
End 1 requires five rebirths with at least one Item Merchant purchase after the 4th rebirth. End 2 requires four rebirth upgrades with no merchant purchases (troops allowed) plus Heat Crystal gear for the final sequence. Plan merchant spending carefully on End 1 runs so End 2 stays clean.
Trophies reset every rebirth. Re-earn trophy gates before laboratory upgrades each run. If you depend on lab buffs for speed, schedule trophy farming before End 2 attempts.

What is the best upgrader in Ice Tycoon 2? Lava Upgrader early; Gem Upgrader after all five gems. Coolant is the best water-efficiency pick mid-game.
Is this the Clone Tycoon 2 tier list? No — this ranks Ice Tycoon 2 only. Clone/Theme Park/Lumber Tycoon 2 are different games.
Should I buy Ice Upgrader before Lava Upgrader? Usually no — Lava Upgrader spikes sell value for every ice block. Ice Upgrader helps mid-line throughput once Cash is steady.
When do I buy Mcrafter? After Lava Upgrader, Coolant, and mine income are stable. It saves manual hours but costs heavy Cash.
